1. ReportWriter is Connecting with MOODLE!
We are excited to announce that we will be creating a bridge between ReportWriter, ReportWriter/WEB and MOODLE. We know many teachers are using Moodle to work with students to assign and evaluate work and to send messages back and forth. We understand that this is a most effective tool between teachers and students. will be able to host your use of Moodle for FREE the first year of use. The following years, we will host for a 10% discount on Moodle's charge. We know you all still have to create your reports so we hope linking with Moodle will eliminate double entries of the assignments your student's are completing. We will keep you posted on the unveiling!
2. ReportWriter is available for Macintosh OSX.4!
ReportWriter is now Mac compatible. To download ReportWriter on your Mac, go to www.schoolpathways.com and click on Downloads. Scroll below the download instructions for Windows and you will see the Mac OS X.4 download instructions. Click on Macintoch OSX 10.4 (Tiger) installer We are also working on installers for earlier versions of MAC. Call our office for more information.
3. Using quotes and hyphens in ReportWriter.
Thanks to Dana from Somis for the information on how to use quotes and hyphens in ReportWriter from a cut-and-paste Word document! If you cut and paste text from Word documents into RW comments or custom assignments, you get weird symbols in the place of quotes and hyphens. To stop this from happening, do the following: In your Word document go to Format >Auto-Format > Options and uncheck the boxes next to "Straight quotes" with "smart quotes" and "Hyphens (--) with dash (--)"
4. Extend Learning Periods for Summer School.
If you are using ReportWriter for your summer school students, we have created a new option to re-number your learning periods. Because a student can only be entered into one "track" at a time we have to enter the summer school dates as a continuation of your regular school year. If you would like to name these additional learning periods for summer school starting at 1, you can use the new field in the Reports > Assignment page or Work Summary Page. This allows you to call a learning period anything you want. You can just type in a number or you can give it a more specific name such as "Summer LP1."

The Work Summary report has a few changes to it. You can now choose to show the Text Title, your Comments, and/or State Standards on this report.

If you are creating Master Agreements for the new school year, all you have to do is change the school year in the student info page. Then create your new 2006/2007 master agreement as usual. You can always go back into the previous school years to check on assignments, master agreements, or report cards.

If you are using our student information system, RW/WEB, you now have the ability to Pre-Enroll a student. You access this feature from the student info page in ReportWriter. Fill in the student info page and then click on PreEnroll. You must be connected to the Internet to proceed. The ReportWriter/WEB system opens a complete enrollment form for you to fill in while sitting with your new family. Once this is complete, you can print it out and have it signed by the parent/guardian. This enrollment form is then submitted to the office for final enrollment data completed by office staff. Complete information on this procedure is available on our web site. See the side bar section - "News"
5. Work Summary Report Update.
The Work Summary Report is now more comprehensive. You can choose to:
Print Text Title
Print State Standards
Print Comments
6. Creating new Master Agreements for the 2006/2007 school year.
If you are preparing Master Agreements for the new school year IT'S EASY!!. Just go into the student INFO page and change the school year to 2006/2007. Now create Master Agreements as usual.
7. PreEnroll button on Student INFO page.
If you are using our student information system, ReportWriter/WEB, there is now the "PreEnroll" feature in ReportWriter. This allows a teacher in the field to pre-enroll a student by filling out an enrollment form through RW. The teacher meets with the family for the first time and enters the student information in RW as usual. Then you click on the PreEnroll button on the same Info page and you are taken to an enrollment form. Fill in information with the family sitting right there with you. When you have completed the form, print it out and have the parent/guardian sign it. Send it to the office for further processing. The student is officially enrolled when the office completes the registration. You must be connected to the Internet to use the feature. For more information, call our office.
