ReportWriter Newsletter

Welcome back to a new school year. We are happy to be working with all of you this year!

If you can't get into ReportWriter, you will need to synchronize your program. You must synch once a month and should not skip the courses, but you are welcome to synch more often and skip the courses if you just want to send data to our server for safe keeping.

Thanks to Samual Krouse from Camptonville Academy, one of the teachers who has been with us from the beginning, for the following. It really gave us a chuckle.

I opened my ReportWriter and was told to do the synch.
I thought I should do it right away, or I would be sunk.
It turned out to be a cinch.
So now I am synched with Kathleen, Amy, & Ben.
Happy, harmonious days are here again!
       - Samuel Krouse

We thank you for your patience during this time of year. Amy and I have been traveling to schools for trainings and LeAnn and Danice have been holding down the fort at the home office. Thank goodness for their diligence. Ben is always busy creating the latest and greatest for our programs and we're happy to have Bey as his new side-kick. They're proving to be a dynamic duo.

We will be contacting all of the schools we work with over the next two weeks to see if all of your needs are being met. We Sooo appreciate all of you.

Our best,

1. Setting the same learning period dates for groups of students.
For those of you that have to change learning period dates to match your visits with your families, you can change the dates in "batches." If you see 4 students on 9/15, 10/12, 11/20, etc. you can use the following method to set dates. It's not perfect but it will save you a lot of time!

  1. While in RW, close out of any student INFO page.
  2. Click on TOOLS > TEACHER INFO.
  3. Go to the Learning Period area and choose a learning period you wish to change. You will see the dates pop up in the "From" and "To" boxes. Change the dates to your liking and click SET.
  4. Choose the next LP you want to change, change the dates and click SET.
  5. Continue on for all LP's you wish to change.
  6. Click DONE.
  7. Go to the first student that needs these new learning period dates.
  8. In the learning period area, click on choose for that student and choose the last learning period so the dates showing in the window are for LP 10.
  9. Click "Remove Learning Period" 11 times.
  10. Click on the "ASSIGN" tab.
  11. Go back into the INFO page and the learning periods should be correct.
  12. Continue doing steps 5 through for all students you want to have these same dates.
  13. When you want to start a new group of dates for a new group of students, start at step 1.

Now, if you only want to set your dates one LP at a time, you can. You WILL get a message that reminds you that you need to finish your Learning Period dates because some are missing or overlapping. It is annoying but you can just click OK and continue on. In the case of going in to start a master agreement, sometimes you have to click out of the other box that pops up first, but then you can close the LP reminder box. If you have created a learning period with too many days, the program will not let you claim attendance until you fix the dates.
2. Copying Master Agreement from YEAR to YEAR!
Great news for those of us who forget to change the school year and create Master Agreements for the old year. You can copy a Master Agreement from one school year to the next. If you are in the 2005/2006 school year and need to copy an MA forward to 2006/2007, click on COURSE. Click on the MA you want to work with and click on COPY. A box pops up asking you what you want to call it and what year you want to copy it to. Choose the new name and the new year and click CREATE. Bingo! Thanks Connie Maloney for your assistance on this one!!
3. Signature lines on the Log.
The signatures are working on the log. Now you can choose what signatures you enter for each different type of log. This is on the ASSIGN tab > click on LOG. These work great for PE logs!
4. Files you can view on the WEB (for schools using our Student Information System).
Using our Student Information System? You can easily see what's happening with your student in the WEB by clicking on the "Access RW/WEB" button on each student's INFO page in ReportWriter. You can also click on My Pages to see your student roster.
